Built for the job, not the brochure
Honda engine — power you can count on
Site-proven and contractor preferred worldwide. The Honda petrol engine on the SP5900 starts reliably, runs consistently, and keeps on going through a full day of marking work. No power point, no generator, no delays. Pull the cord and get to work.
Front swivel wheel system
Parking lot striping is where most line marking machines struggle — kerb-to-kerb runs, tight turns at bay ends, and working close to obstacles. The SP5900’s precision front swivel wheel system handles all of it. Tighter steering, easier “up to the curb” manoeuvres, and the ability to hold a curve without the machine fighting back. Less operator effort, better line quality, more ground covered per shift.
Smart digital pressure control
Line quality lives and dies on pressure consistency. The SP5900’s digital pressure display lets you set your working pressure precisely and monitor it in real time throughout the job. No guessing. No pressure drift halfway through a run. The line you lay at the start of the day looks the same as the one you lay at the end.
Adjustable gun bracket
Different jobs need different gun positions. The SP5900’s versatile gun bracket adjusts to match your working demands — whether you are marking narrow lane lines on a road, wide bays in a warehouse, or edge lines on a sports court. Switch configurations without tools and get back to marking.
Ergonomic handlebar design
A full shift behind a line striper is physical work. The SP5900’s high-comfort handlebar design reduces operator fatigue and keeps control precise throughout the day. Less strain means fewer errors — and fewer errors mean less rework.
Durable drive system
German INA bearings. Level 5 ground gears. USA leather packing. The same proven internal components found across the SP Sprayer range — chosen for longevity under real working conditions, not just rated performance on a spec sheet.
Optional glass bead dispenser
Road marking that needs to be visible at night requires retroreflective glass beads applied over the wet paint line. The SP5900 supports an optional glass bead dispenser, making it suitable for road marking work that must meet national visibility standards.
Where the SP5900 works
- Roads and highways — lane lines, edge lines, stop bars, and pedestrian crossings
- Car parks and parking lots — bay marking, directional arrows, disabled bays, and kerb-to-kerb striping
- Warehouses and logistics facilities — safety lanes, forklift zones, loading bay marking, and pedestrian walkways
- Sports courts and recreational facilities — tennis, basketball, netball, and multi-use court marking
- Industrial and airside facilities — aprons, taxiways, and restricted zone marking
- Schools and public facilities — playground markings, pedestrian zones, and car park layouts
Single operator capable
The SP5900 is designed to be run by one person. The handlebar layout, swivel wheel system, and adjustable gun bracket all reduce the need for a second operator to manage the machine while the first manages the gun. For a sole contractor or small marking team, that directly affects your profitability on every job.
Why buy from Sprayair?
SprayAir supplies professional spray and marking equipment to contractors across South Africa. We carry local stock of the SP5900, hold spare parts locally, and offer technical support when you need it. You are not ordering from overseas and hoping for the best — we are here, the stock is here, and so are your spares.
Not sure if the SP5900 is the right machine for your marking work? Contact us before you order — we will help you choose the right unit for your specific jobs and volumes.
What surfaces can the SP5900 mark?
The SP5900 is suitable for road asphalt and concrete, car park surfaces, warehouse and factory floors, sports court surfaces, and any painted or sealed horizontal surface that takes airless-sprayed line marking paint. If you are working on a specialist surface or with an unusual coating, contact us and we will advise on suitability.
What paint types can it spray?
The SP5900 handles water-based and solvent-based road marking paints. This includes standard traffic paints, thermoplastic-compatible primers, acrylic road marking paints, and warehouse floor marking coatings. It is not suited to cold plastic or hot thermoplastic materials, which require dedicated thermoplastic application equipment.
Can one person operate the SP5900?
Yes — it is designed for single-operator use. The ergonomic handlebar layout, front swivel wheel system, and adjustable gun bracket are all configured to let one operator steer, control line width, and manage pressure without needing a second person. For high-volume road marking work, a two-person team (one driving, one spotting) will increase speed and accuracy, but the machine does not require it.
Can it run two guns at the same time?
Yes. The SP5900 supports dual-gun operation with a maximum nozzle size of 0.025″ per gun. This is useful for marking dual lines simultaneously — for example, centre lines with edge lines, or parallel bay markings in a car park. Running two guns reduces pressure per gun slightly, so factor this into your pressure settings.
How does the front swivel wheel help with parking lot striping?
Standard line stripers struggle with parking bays because getting close to the kerb at the end of a run requires a tight turn the machine cannot easily make. The SP5900’s precision swivel front wheel gives you full 360-degree steering, making “up to the kerb” bay endings and tight turning circles easy to manage without lifting or repositioning the machine. It significantly reduces the time spent on bay ends and curves.
Does the SP5900 need a glass bead dispenser for road marking?
Not for all road marking work — but if your jobs include night-visibility requirements (which most public road marking contracts in South Africa do), retroreflective glass beads must be applied to the wet paint line immediately after it is laid. The SP5900 supports an optional glass bead dispenser for exactly this purpose. If you are quoting on road contracts that require retroreflectivity, ask us about the bead dispenser when you order.
What tip size should I use for standard road lines?
For a standard 100mm road line, a 0.025″ to 0.031″ tip is a good starting point with most road marking paints. The SP5900 supports a maximum tip size of 0.035″ on a single gun. Tip selection also depends on your paint viscosity and desired line width — always check the paint manufacturer’s tip recommendation and test on a scrap surface before starting a live job.
Does it need a generator or mains power?
No. The SP5900 is petrol-powered and fully self-contained. You need petrol on site and a flat surface to work from. This makes it suitable for remote road marking, rural sites, and any location without reliable mains power — which covers most real-world road marking environments in South Africa.
Are spare parts available in South Africa?
Yes. Sprayair holds spare parts for the SP5900 locally, including packings, filters, valves, and spray tips. You will not be waiting on international shipping when something needs replacing mid-contract. Contact us for a current parts list or to order spares alongside your machine.
How does the SP5900 compare to the SP6300?
Both machines share the same Honda petrol engine and core pump technology, but they are built for different jobs. The SP6300 is a general-purpose petrol airless sprayer for painting walls, roofs, and structures — it is optimised for vertical and overhead spraying on residential, commercial, and industrial sites. The SP5900 is purpose-built for horizontal line marking — it has a wheeled chassis, front swivel steering, an adjustable gun bracket for ground-level spraying, and optional glass bead dispensing. If you are doing line marking work, the SP5900 is the right machine. If you are doing general coating work, the SP6300 is the right machine.
